Google says 3.5-4 hours. Plan for 4.5-5. The road from Tamarindo to Liberia, then the Interamericana south, and up the mountains through Tilarán. The mountain section after Cañas is winding and slow. But the scenery is gorgeous — dry Guanacaste transitions to green volcanic highlands.
