Quick escape from the airport to Costa Rica's closest beach town. The route descends from the Central Valley through lush mountains before reaching the Pacific coast.
Travel Time Reality Check
Google says about 1.5 hours and it's actually pretty accurate for this one. The highway from SJO to Jaco (Route 27 and Costanera) is one of the best roads in the country. Maybe add 15-20 minutes during rush hour or if there's a truck on the mountain pass, but it's generally a quick ride.

Quick and easy ride. If you're leaving in the morning, you'll be on the beach before lunch. The descent from the mountains to the coast after Atenas is gorgeous — coffee farms on one side, Pacific views on the other. Jaco is a fun town with great food. Ask your driver for restaurant recommendations.
